I have no idea either. I guess out of 32 GMs who often do dumb things, someone could throw a pile of money at him like San Jose or Chicago - or at least a relative pile.
And since we don't know much about his mental health issues, maybe leaving Calgary is a good thing for him - not because of the team or because they treated him badly, but just because of the whole situation to begin with. I certainly don't begrudge him the right to choose, and I don't think he "owes" Calgary anything - he had a mental health issue and his employer helped him, as they should have.
There are a whole lot of what-ifs here, and we don't know (and will likely never know) all the details. And that's okay. Just I would have thought that if he is interested in coming back to Calgary, as he is to some degree since they were having talks, that it's strange that a team needing to reach the floor who can afford to overspend, can't meet what he's looking for. And I say that without knowing what he's looking for, of course.
