He isn't very injury prone. Only missed 7 games in the past three seasons. Including playing all 82 games two of the last three.
If he has a bounce back season and ends up on pace for 20-30 goals by the trade deadline, Flames could have retained 50% on an expiring contract to sweeten the return. Either way, he was still likely to post 40 something points given his track record.
Guess what I'm saying is if he's worth a second round pick now, after a 40 point season, he's probably still worth around that at the trade deadline, but at that point you can retain on his contract to make him even more valuable to a playoff team.
But we'll see what Conroy does with the cap space I guess.
