Waaah he didn’t want to…Waaah. Not a leader. Would only get it if the Oilers won? Even less of a leader.

Here’s something else. Senior oilers players should have told him to get the award. And he should have listened to them if they did. You want class? The Oilers should have all gone to the bench or even onto the ice to support their captain.

16 teams of 20-25 players and you were the best player throughout 4 rounds? For many players, it is the highlight of leadership and leading the team on a daunting journey.

Did the flames want to get back on the ice to congratulate linden? No. Iginla knew it was the right thing to do so they did it. Tina turner played at a McDonald’s manager’s conference when she had a #1 album because she made the commitment when she needed the money before the album was successful.

I have found the way the oilers play to be disrespectful to opponents; slew feet, spearing, dirty behind the play shots…and that’s not including crapweasel Perry and Kane. This is on brand.

Poor Connor! Not a leader and therefore totally on brand.

One last thing; if you can’t do it for the team, the league, the game, the fans, people who supported you along the way or even for yourself, do it for your parents and your family. Be a grown up. Be a leader.
Initially I kind of cut him some slack as I'm sure he was extremely disappointed but out of respect for the award, the league, and fans he should have manned up and accepted the trophy. Clearly he was trying to push the narrative that he doesn't care about the individual awards despite never objecting to being on the ice in open net situations or powerplays in blowout games to pad his individual stats. Kind of rings hollow when his actions have always pointed to a player that's never said "no" to an opportunity to pad his stats.
