I appreciated Mangi. His story and his play on the ice. I feel like he just Didn’t have a good fit to play higher in the line up. He was a fearless competitor at times. I think he had a shoulder issue the last couple of seasons that Didn’t really clear up. It probably contributed to his struggles. He was a solid possession guy but he did have trouble with bigger defenders and forwards who really were able to neutralize him due to his size. He’s a great complimentary scorer on a deep team with a legit top line. Perhaps since he’s going into his last chance for a big contract we see a big uptick?


Anyway the trade looks good. It’s testament to Connie’s plan. I am really impressed with him so far. Has a first year GM ever had to facilitate so much change ? He’s done great. I think he really understands what wins in this league and he’s committed to this vision.

We had a log jam of wingers and now Pelletier gets his chance. We can’t risk losing him to waivers. So this trade is all types of awesome: roster spot, cap space and a late second. Really solid deal.

I think Rasmus is in line for a similar transistion this season, the trade deadline or next season.


Anyway , I loved watching mangi compete at times. He really punched above his weight class with his grit and abilities. He had some beauty shots for this team and was a classy guy. Thanks for the memories and good luck next year. Hopefully he’s able to furnish a good season and secure a lucrative contract for him and his family.
