I've been grappling with this question/decision recently. My first position is that doing business with China should be evaluated very rigorously and it is not something I necessarily view as a good thing. But, when it comes to EVs and battery technology it does seem like China is a leader or at least very well positioned and the have significant economies of scale for bringing down R&D and production costs. It would be great to see a vast offering of cheap car options. We don't necessarily have a large domestic auto industry to protect but to some degree we have to "play nice" and align with the US because what industry we do have is reliant on the US corporations.
