Woke up this morning to the sun shining, birds chirping, the cat meowing, but I knew it was going to be a good day with an Oilers loss. Wonderful wonderful way to wake up.

What a great game that was. Very tense at the end, but I knew that finally....finally riding the dream twins those minutes would catch up to them. You could see it in the last 90 seconds the energy draining, and it was at that time I knew FLA had the win.

I'll tip my hat to the oilers though. Couldn't have been more wrong about them after the way they started the season. To pull off the winning streaks they had was pretty impressive. Have to respect them for putting on a few streaks like that. To come back down 3-0 the way they did and be on the cusp of the biggest upset in league history, like it or not, is pretty impressive. Hell of a fight they put up. McDavid has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's the best player in the league. No, it's not Mackinnon, Makar or whomever else the E=NG crowd thinks it should be. He's #1 and that is a fact. I can appreciate a skilled player when I see it and McD is without a doubt that guy. I just pray he leaves Edmonton one day so that I can fully appreciate his skillset and cheer for him.

Funny as it is that he didn't come out to get the Conn Smyth, I can understand his decision. The crowd was booing hard anyways and really the only reason he'd come out is to give a photo to his parents. I have never seen him as the kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve for his fans and would suck it up for them. Probably saved himself a few memes, given how sad that Giguere photo is. Would have given the trophy to Bobrovsky though. Yes, McD put on a show a few games, but he was a non-factor the past 2 on the scoresheet. Bob showed up BIG in game 7, where it all matters. Hard to not see how he's the winner, but given McD is the golden boy and the CS is often a reputation award, not surprising. Bob should have won it, but he has very easily solidified himself into the HOF with this win. Have liked him since his Blue Jacket days and it's always great to see a veteran goalie win the cup.

Not sure what was going on with the Panthers games 4-6, but thank the gods they won game 7. Can sleep easier and finally get on with summer.
