I'm not a Schendier fan, he's a cheap option that Atkins and Shapiro can control, but there under the guise of him managing Bo and Vlad years back in the minors.
Tonight wasnt him though. His chess match with Cora in the 8th was fine. It got Cora to burn two batters, the first being the better hitter, and it allowed Schinder to get the three batter rule to remove Maza in put Pop in, against the weaker batter. So a good move.
Problem was execution, from relievers and rookies.
Barger drops a pop up. Pearson gets so rattled he leaves the next pitch right over the plate. Pop gets into the game vs above mentioned light hitting utility infielder and gives up a first pitch single to tie at 6.
Tied at 6, Jays get a hit from Kirk, pinch run for him, but then KK tried two bunts and struck out, while the pinch runner was trying to steal. Pinch runner then gets thrown out by the third string catcher, meanwhile the next pitch IKF hits where it would've gotten the runner to third on the hit and run.
Horowitz then in 9th can't make a routine put out and then that run comes into score 2 batters later to win.
Missing Garcia and Romano. Nate thinks he's better and more dominating then he is, Maza has turned into a pumpkin this year, and Pop looks like a deer in headlights most nights, good or bad.
Bassitt scratches and claws and keeps Sox to 2 runs through 7, and dumb field plays and bad relievers give Boston 5 runs in 2 innings.
