I really do not understand why the player would want to do this. Just sign a 1 year league min or take your QO. If you break out and score even .5 ppg which isn't impossible with his tools you're way ahead. The only upside here is that if you wind up a career AHLer after this season you get an extra few hundred grand to live on, but even there, surely some other team wants to try their hand at developing him even if the Kings give up, due to his pedigree.
