Teams only insure a couple contracts and this sure wouldn't be one.
The issues for the team won't be about loyalty one way or another - they will be about the risk of a long term contract, just like a player with potentially chronic physical injuries. Plus he hasn't really proven himself on the ice as a performer in a long term, consistent way (not his fault but true nontheless). I imagine they will offer a show me contract at a slight increase in pay.
