I actually like this trade. With the exception of mentoring Wolf, Markstrom essentially had zero value to the organization. He is getting older, and all he will do is elevate this team up a couple of spots in the standings. When this team is ready to compete again, Markstrom will be some goalie coach somewhere.

I think the price was probably elevated. If Conroy could have secured this deal at the deadline, he probably would have. I think there were peanuts being thrown by Fitzgerald trying to grab Markstrom for basically nothing. Other teams kicked tires, drove up the price, and the trade happened.

Another bullet in the chamber, another good-sized player for this monster team to come together down the road, and dgib can keep crying in the corner because Markstrom probably had sex with his mom or something, and he was peaking through the window, which is why he is obsessed with Markstrom everywhere even though he has only become a Devil today.

I think it is a win+win=lose type of trade. Calgary wins because they obtained more bullets in the chamber for a guy they needed to unload since he didn't fit with the team now, and would be too old when they would need him. Devils win because they now get a decent stop-gap that will help their team not be terrible, and Fitz can hopefully keep his job (win for the rest of the league as he seems fairly incompetent), but Dgig will be rocking in a corner peeing his pants whenever Markstrom is the confirmed starter for his team.
