To Flames: Korpisalo (4x4 remaining) + Joseph (2x2.9 remaining) +7th overall

The Sens get the goalie they are after and come out of this deal cap neutral. Mangiapane retained makes the same as Joseph and expires this year instead of next and they get Marky at $4M and dump Korpisalo fully. They get the Vancouver 1st and Flames 2nd. Flames get the 7th overall pick by retaining on 2 players, eating a couple of overpriced contracts and giving up a late 1st and early 2nd.

Another trade I thought about:

Markstrom+9+28
For
7+25+Brannstrom

Ottawa doesn’t really have the cap to make that work unless dumping bodies elsewhere.
I think this would completely decimate the Flames blue line but I believe the Senators had previously inquired about Weegar. Given he’s a RHS D, local guy to Ottawa and on an increasingly affordable cap hit he could fit well there.

Wonder what Markstrom and Weegar could look like.

Or maybe the Flames take a D back? As a frame work

Markstrom & Weegar
7OA & Chabot/Chykrun

Ottawa likely asks for a pick back. Maybe 28 or a second depending on whether it’s Chabot or Chykrun
