It's always the same though for talent club vs country. Goes back in England, to a guy like John Barnes who didn't do much internationally.
More currently, a guy like Foden under Pep has a different role, the club team plays a different style and Foden has more active wing backs to use then the style and personally Southgate plays. It's a bit tough, he's gained his quality and skill from his club, that elevates him to England duty, but it's not fully unlocked while on England becuase he has to play a different system and style with different players in qualifiers every couple years and then a 4-6+ game tournament vs 40+ games a year with his club.
