If the city waited until the every detail was accounted for to say it would be 3-5 weeks people would be livid at the lack of updates from the "lazy city workers". If they update as they find out people stomp their feet because in the real world sometimes things change.

I'm sure this has been a real inconvenience for some people and there some ways we could be better like limiting some non residential uses too but for most people this isn't that big of a deal and sometimes life is annoying.

It's not a catastrophe, it's not some diabolical plan, it has nothing to do with our current politicians or "lazy city workers", etc etc.
