Personally, I’ve spent my whole life cheering for dud franchises. It ####ing sucks. Sports should be about winning and now I cheer for a winner. And you mean people on CP obsess with more losing. Misery loves company I guess.
Edmonton is a city that needs something, anything positive to happen. It can be a rough place to live, especially in the winter. Calling for fans to toss jerseys and riot? Come on. Be better. mcdavid is one of the greatest hockey players in history, how could anyone cheer against him?
I feel like Wayne Gretzky at the salt lake olympics. The whole world wants us to lose but we’re gonna prove the doubters wrong.

This isn't about "Canadian Pride". Its a sports franchise and even though I live in Edmonton now I have always been a Flames fan and I cannot bring myself to cheer for their most hated rival.
If I want to have Canadian Pride, I cheer for them at the Olympics or the Worlds or whatever.
I am not a football fan, but I really can't see the English cheering for France in a World Cup vs Brazil because they are "Europe's team" - I would expect a lot more of "screw that cheese eating surrender monkeys!".
Maybe I'm wrong, and yes E=NG is fun but the Oilers do have a good thing going this playoffs.. and I want nothing more than to see Tkachuk chewing that damned mouthguard as he rubs Lord Stanley in McDavid's face.
I don't care who is American, Canadian, black, white, yellow, burgundy, whatever... I care that my most hated rival in the sport gets slapped back down with their whole "we deserve McDavid cause we ruined the other 4 first overall picks we had".
