Managing public perceptions on a nearly billion dollar publicly funded project is very important. If the flames come out and say oh hey thanks for the crisp billion dollars City/Province we are going to ice the 23-24 San Jose sharks for 2 years while this thing is being built and not bring 20 thousand people to business in the area 45 nights a year and maybe additional 12-16 nights till June. The out cry will be bad for the NHL and bad for future arena projects in Canada.
Once ground is broken, there is no turning back. Everyone has to live with it, the good the bad the ugly.
