Off topic, but why did the NHL/NHLPA change the rules on allowing players to renegotiate contracts? I remember Turek did it back in the day to help the team when Kiprusoff had taken over the starting role. Seems like a guy like Huberdeau lowering his AAV by even $2/mill makes his contract more palatable and potentially tradable, seems the ability to renegotiate mid contract would be valuable to both players and teams in certain situations. Or maybe I’m wrong and the extra money is worth the added scrutiny and pressure.
