We moved a 2nd for Eliott, he came off a .930 sv% regular season and a .921sv% in 18 playoff games that year. He had .917, and .922 sv% in the 2 years prior.
We didn't move a 1st for Bishop(.926sv% regular season, and .939sv% playoffs), when Tampa was asking for it. He later went to LAK for a package around Cernak( he was a mid 2nd rounder drafted 2 years before).
The 9th overall went for a 28 year old Schneider signed at 4M for 2 more years. At the time he was outperforming Lou in VAN. He also had 2 seasons posting .927, and .937 sv%.
I think it would be hard to sell the Devils' fanbase on moving that pick for an older goalie.

I agree mostly with what you are saying but there are a few points you might not be giving our side credit for. Before I elaborate nothing is certain until it happens and I don’t think we get 10OA for a deal with Markstrom, as I would not do it if the roles were reveresed.
First Schneider was traded without retention, which has been established at 28OA for 6 million, but he was younger and yet played with Luongo so it could be questioned if he was a product of situation or a top tier goalie. Second you don’t openly say to the media you are willing to part with 10OA unless you are signaling to someone as nobody in the rational mind would trade that and expect to keep their job for anything less than a significant asset. Third it seams that all of the “smoke” that has come out makes NJ look like they are trying to manipulate the narrative or pressure CGY into what they want (could be my take).
Again I mostly agree with your thoughts but done see it as unlikely as you are attesting.
