It remains to be seen if a guy like Markstrom is something significant for the Devils. Maybe he has an eye for trading for Necas, or Swayman. Maybe it's another young player that will get a bigger chance with the Devils.

We moved a 2nd for Eliott, he came off a .930 sv% regular season and a .921sv% in 18 playoff games that year. He had .917, and .922 sv% in the 2 years prior.

We didn't move a 1st for Bishop(.926sv% regular season, and .939sv% playoffs), when Tampa was asking for it. He later went to LAK for a package around Cernak( he was a mid 2nd rounder drafted 2 years before).

The 9th overall went for a 28 year old Schneider signed at 4M for 2 more years. At the time he was outperforming Lou in VAN. He also had 2 seasons posting .927, and .937 sv%.

I think it would be hard to sell the Devils' fanbase on moving that pick for an older goalie.
