I get he can put up a 1B workload and that he had some good years in St Louis, but he hasn't been good for awhile. The Flames don't need him and would be taking him as a dump only.
That said, I think we are overestimating Markstroms value. Over the past three seasons he had about a season and a half of stellar play, the rest was meh, and his playoff series against the Oilers was terrible. He is 34 with two more years at 6 million per.
If the Flames retain salary and take Allen maybe you get 10 OA. If your expecting more you might be disappointed. I also won't be shocked to see this go past the draft for an underwhelming return. Hope to be wrong though.

Allen isn’t costing almost 4. He’s getting $3.3M in salary with half being paid by Montreal. So he’s going to cost $1.65M and come with a $1.925M cap hit.
