Vladar’s tricky because I think the Flames think he has a fair amount of upside but the league probably sees him as an overpaid backup coming off an injury that could be risky. Unfortunately he’s not going to have the opportunity to show himself before the start of the season.
Do the Flames look to offload him wherever they can? Do the start the year with three G’s? Maybe they waive Vladar at the start to see if there are any takers? Start him in the A, see if he can rebuild his status around the league? Would/should they consider using a retention spot? Something not often talked about but a solid backup making $1M is pretty valuable across the league.
Interested to see where this goes….

I doubt anyone considers Vladar a solid back up, at least not until he proves himself healthy and effective.
Calgary would not waste a Retention spot simply to move Vladar, those spaces are quite valuable.
