For a few games before the trade he was in the NHL, that season he was in the AHL for a chunk of the season and wasn't really performing well.
When the Avs traded him, the view was he wasn't as highly rated as he was when he was drafting. Waivers can play a part in the value of these players too. How many years did he have left before he had to clear waivers to get sent down? Timmins and the Avs 1st are nowhere near 10OV value.
Give me an example of teams trading up in the draft where they trade prospects losing value and picks near the end of the 1st all the way up to a top 10 pick?
