It absolutely is worth a 1st.
Markstrom alone is probably worth a 3rd and a meh prospect.
When you add in eating 6 million of actual money over 2 years, that 3rd becomes a 1st.
History tells us 6 million plus cap dump gets you a 1st. See Marleau and Monny. That was 1 season. We are doing 2 here, which could impact our ability in year 2 with 3 million in dead cap space to do other things.
I actually think New Jersey would have to add a little something more to get it over the line, probably Holtz.
If Fitzgerald wants to throw a tantrum again he can run with Jake Allen and trade for Jack Campbell.
Also just to add to this, New Jersey got a 4th for retaining 25% on Tanev for 15 games. We are talking 2 years of retention here. Starting to think Fitzgerald has no clue what he is doing when it comes to paying up for retention. Maybe he should ask his owner if he wants to pay 6 million for a player on his team to play for someone else for a couple of 3rd rounders.
