I’m interested to see what happens with retention. Speculation was the deal ahead of the deadline fell apart due to retention, or at least that is what was first believed. Recently I think someone put out there that Ownership quashed it because they felt the team was still in a competitive spot and could make the playoffs.
Personally, I would retain on Markstrom because I think the added value for Markstrom will be greater than the value of retention on one of Mangiapanne, Kuzmenko, and Sharangovich. Also, I suspect the Flames may try, or prefer, to extend Sharangovich.
