My only issue with Necas is that I don’t think the Flames are competitive again until 2028/2029. In my opinion they should be driving towards that window, what assets can they acquire that will be contributing in 4-5 years time? Acquiring and holding on to Necas so that Coronato is stuck on the 3rd or 4th line does not make a lot of sense to me, I would rather see what we have with Coronato.

But there is spots to be had with Mangiapane out and Necas in.
Coronato will only be stuck on the 3rd line if he does not out play Zary, Pospsil and Pelleitier. At least for this year and maybe next.
Also being stuck on the 3rd line is ok when he projects to be a 2nd line player and gets to play with Backlund and Coleman.
Top teams have top players and the issue with everyone having is do we have the superstars to win. Right now, we don't and that list of don't includes Coronato. He's ok to be 2nd/3rd line player on a great team.
Florida is elite and the have the Barkov line and the Tkachuk line. Their top 6 isn't loaded with 6 elite stars, they have 2 and have other good young players in their top 9. Nothing wrong with making Coronato earn a spot in the top 9, we will be rolling 4 lines without players like Mcdavid anyways.
