The main problem with trading for Necas is he doesn't substantially alter the future of this team, certainly not enough to turn around its fortunes overnight, and he'll be knocking on the doorstep of his 30s even if the Flames somehow manage to turn this ship around in 3-4 years (which they won't). It just doesn't make sense. Like Ashasx said, he'd immediately jump to the top of my "should try to flip" list, and the best-case scenario there is probably a package like the one the Flames would have to give up. It doesn't advance the organization in any meaningful way. They'd be better served trying to sign a forward in free agency (which they also shouldn't do).
