I don't think they need to replicate any model. Every cup team is made up of some good picks, some good trades, some good signings. It's not some magic formula. Right now they should be loading up on picks and drafting as high as possible for a few years. Trades and signings will present themselves along the way. If you're not willing to load up on picks and drop into the top 5 for a few years you're basically making it near impossible to build a contender..
