If the trade was executed do the devils miss the playoffs? If they did make the playoffs, which could have certainly happened, you’re not talking about 10th overall and the point of missing out on a top pairing/top 6/son of an icon becomes even less likely.

Your if, maybe and could have beens are the same as anyone else’s. ‘Less likely’ that we lost any of those assets I described is a real comfort.
The Markstrom interview suggests the deal was done. And Franky says the reason for the pull back from on high was ‘we’re still in it.’ The insiders say the offer was 2024 1st and Holtz. NJD pulled back on retention. You know all this as you commented and were active in the discussion.
Maybe if then could have been - we lost assets and pissed off our #1 goalie. If it was #19 this year plus Holtz (who was a top ten too I think) I’d be pretty happy right now.
Whatever we get for Marky now will be less for a pile of reasons that have been discussed thoroughly in this thread and which you are fully aware of.
