28 is not a problem. But if the 28 year old has two years left on his contract, at age 30 that next contract will not likely look good on the back end.
So, while 28 may not be on the wrong side of the age fence, depending on the contract situation, you might want to deal with that 28 year old now, before he is on the wrong side of the fence.
