I understand what you're trying to say, but I just don't think it's as easy for most people out there as it was for you. Also, the 40-year-old dude is not a good example to focus on (in fact he's a poor example) - the article is moreso about affordability in general. I'm not sure why people are fixated on him so much, look past that.

Just out of complete curiosity, are you making over six figures (part of the apparently normal CP demographic) / gainfully employed / educated / have no health issues / have a non-turbulent personal life? These factors 100% play into many people's lives and their ability to pursue home ownership.
