Honestly this is such a logical and overdue one. Many parts of the rest of the world have already allowed this for a long time. Having a beer in the park in Tokyo or Berlin is terrific (####, you can buy beer in vending machines in Japan). I know Calgary did those recent pilot projects in the parks (which I hope were successful), but make it permanent already.
It's weird that here you can have a beer on your lawn, but the minute you move onto the sidewalk a metre away, it's illegal. Hell you can drink in your house all day or at a bar, and then walk down the street, but if you bring the can with you, THAT'S the point where the problem lies? Strange.
