I'd love to propose transformative laws that magically fix housing, the economy, etc... but I'm really not smart enough to do that. So my suggestions are things that wouldn't cost a lot, would benefit most Canadians and don't really fall into a left-right divide.
Ban exorbitant preset tipping options on debit machines. I'm tired of seeing machines start at 20 percent and up. Either have the suggestions at max out at a 10-12-15% option, or have the customer type in the percent themselves. Canadians are too nice, and we're being taken advantage of.
Ingredient and nutrition labels on alcohol. I'm shocked this is not already a thing.
Ban self checkout donation solicitation for companies with sales >$5 million unless the company matches the donations. If Loblaws cares about the children so much (and we all know they truly do), they can ask for and match my donation. Otherwise, screw off.
