I'd legislate significant changes the driver's license program.

First, I'd keep it so that your license has to be renewed every 5 years. However, if you are younger than 70, you'd be required to take and pass a driver's test every 10 years. Over 70, every 5.



At your retest, you get 3 tries. If you fail all 3 tries, you either get your license automatically suspended for a year before you are allowed to retake it, or you get to go in front of a judge and convince them to let you try one more time before the 1 year suspension.



You would be required to take a driver's ed course that has 2 parts before being given a license. One part in the summer, one in the winter.

Licenses from other countries don't transfer over. You will need a Canadian DL to drive in Canada.
