I agree with a lot of your post and it's nice to see a breakdown of goals from a goalie's perspective.
However, I do think he messed up on the post seal and went to the skate instead of the toe/pad. That's why he attacked with the blocker to compensate. Like you said, it happens.
Also, to your point... yeah, leaving a 40+ goal scorer alone in tight is usually going to result in having a bad time. Basically, a comedy of errors from tip to tail on that goal.
