From my personal anecdotal experience, my parents moved here when the Liberals were in power and both my parents typically voted for the Liberals. My mother was a big flag waving Liberal supporter. My father ended up switching to the Conservatives a lot later in life. I was drawn to the Liberals as well, and I fully acknowledge that the influence from my parents likely played a role in that. I won't be voting for them again in the near future (the last time I did was Justin Trudeau's first term, but I am beyond done with his government at this point).
I guess the point was that immigration is one way political parties try to strengthen party support. If they start losing support of people born here, they can bring over new voters.
