Either way, it would be good to get new blood in the ownership team. Hopefully some or all of the new ownership would be Calgary based to some degree, continuing what has been the situation since 1980.
Other than CP users, who would be interested/have the wherewithal to pony up 8 or 9 figures for a piece of the team? Or would private equity firms want to buy a piece, which is an ongoing trend in sports ownership (about 1/3 of NHL teams have private equity firms as part owners).

It's not that clear - they could just be doing an equity raise where they issue new shares equivalent to a 20% overship and inviting new investment, not seeling existing ones. I think it's less likely though.
