There are a lot of speedsters that don't have the hands to actually stickhandle or shoot well when going at top speed. The ones that do are the ones that also tend to get drafted in the top 3 or 5 of a draft.
A lot of them also don't have the hockey sense to know when to slow things down. It's just full speed all the time leading to a lot of north-south play. Kuzmenko might never be the first one to gain the zone, but having a player who can be methodical when he gets there, isn't a bad thing.
