I've had to listen to some country music at work, and over the course of an afternoon... one song copied Macy Grey beat for beat. One stole the riff from a Barenaked Ladies song, one was beat for beat the Northern Pikes 'she ain't pretty'. The Beyonce song lifts from Mumford and Sons and the Lumineers. Neither are country.

On the way home I caught a pop song that was lyrically swapped Bobby McFerrin 'don't worry, be happy'.

Do people think that we won't notice? What happened to country music? I swear lyrically at least three songs were about date rape. One was a catchy tune about wasting good whiskey on a girl, because she was still sober enough to fight him off. wtf. At least it was an original song.
