None of the options sound good to me. Might as well call them the Utah Yaks. Import some nice yaks from Tibet. Call it a day. At least it sounds good.

Some answers that I would love to know but still too disinterested to look up myself:
Why does Pittsburgh have a team called Penguins?
Why did Boston name themselves Bruins if only black bears live in the state?
Ignoring Native American imagery here, why call yourselves the Chiefs, if we all know that chiefs just plan, while it is the warriors that go out and fight? Same concept as having too many chefs in the kitchen?

What exactly is a seahawk? What is a Tiger-cat? Is there a Tiger-Dog?
Looking at a map, it seems a bit weird to have pirates in Pittsburgh.
I definitely don't want to walk around the outskirts of Detroit in case there are some tigers in the woods, I guess. Ditto for Cincinnati? How many people are eaten by these wild tigers there yearly?

Raptors in Toronto? Maybe in museums.

Those just came from the top of my head. I am sure they all have sensible explanations as to how they have all arrived at their names.
Seahawks are ospreys, just another name.

Tiger-cats are tigers. And also big cats. Supposedly there are more tigers in the US than almost any other country (counting zoos and privately owned).

Penguins - because the original owner's wife thought it was a good name and alliterative.

Bruins - the teams original colours were brown and yellow and the owner liked bears.

Raptors - fan vote when Jurassic Park had come out.
