You can't get superstar players in that spot most years, but you can get pretty good ones if you really dial it in. I get that you and the tank crew want the Flames to be dead last for the next 5 years. But there will be years coming out of this cycle where the Flames will draft 12 to 25...they need to focus on maximizing the entire draft haul every season. Not sure shy it makes you so mad to say otherwise. Plus even 5 straight #1 picks will do nothing if the support cast does nothing. You need 2-3 guys pushing for jobs every season.

Not sure how I am mad? I never said we need to bottom out every year either. I literally just said the other day as soon as you pick top 3, you should start to plan to turn things around. Also said we need more picks, and become a great drafting team.
What I am talking about is right now. We have no one to build around. We have people talking about throwing assets at getting a like Zegras. How does that help the future? Trading any assets today right now would be terrible, we need to build our base back up.
The foundation to a winner has always been the same. #1C and #1D and we won't find them unless we draft them.
