Hmmm... I think that he meant to cancel the ticket once I provided the valid one, but forgot. He never physically issued me the ticket, which is why I was convicted in absence. I wonder if that makes it a he said/she said situation. It does work in my favor that I immediately paid the ticket that I did get. It makes no sense that I would ignore one and not the other.
