We can disagree. McCabe is a solid #3 on any team. Reilly is very debatable. He didn't contribute much, I agree, and foot speed costs him every now and then badly. So I get it. But it's the mix overall that's the problem. There are too many skilled guys who go around guys and not through them and that's been an issue for a long time. It's great in regular season but they never get out of their comfort zone to do much to get a scrappy goal. So that venn diagram where you need skilled guys to get dirty and take the puck to the net, just isn't there. Marner is the answer for what you should be dealing (and I think he'll relent but it has to be a team he'll want to go to). You need a proper mix of speed, skill and determination. Too many of their guys are skilled but refuse to get dirty. They can't give up on skill. They just need a different mix of skill, speed and more determination to get dirty. The dirty part is missing with Marner. Tavares will go down the middle here and there and can be clutch. He isn't too bad. Marner really is the answer for what you have to drop.
