Lazy? Translink runs thousands of busses, each one has to be programmed individually. Vancouver has multiple popular teams that each go on successful runs (Canucks, Whitecaps, BC lions to start...).

If the article is correct, they can only have a set number of messages.

This isn't lazy, and it isn't some progressive initiative (that's just lazy thinking). It's simply a ridiculous amount of work to have specific team messages on every bus running.

Now if the messages could be broadcast to the entire fleet from a single central location that would change things some what. But to me this is a completely reasonable response to a large logistical issue.

If a government agency was found to be spending thousands of hours setting pointless vanity messages on transit vehicles, people would be screeching about inefficient governement or some nonsense.
