That doesn't happen in the NFL, NBA and more. People talk about pressure about playing in Winnipeg or Calgary, but you can't "hide' in soccer.

To my previous post, we can blame management amongst Canadian teams, coaches, executives and owners. There is enough evidence to show that it's not just a few poor managers, there is a serious issue. Outside of Vancouver in 2011 arguably, what Canadian team has been favored in a cup final in over 30 years? Literally dozens of coaches, managers, executives and more in that time frame.
Oilers mismanaged McDavid era, but he still might drag them to a cup at some point.

Leafs have mismanaged their young core.

Vancouver has a good core but almost had poor management decisions derail the whole thing.

Senators are the same thing...had a good core then made bad trades for Debrincat and Chychrun in an effort to accelerate things.

Montreal just hasn't really had any lottery luck and also tried to rush things (Dach and Newhook trades)

Flames also had success too early, then tried to rush things, and invested their cap poorly (I'd also say the only team screwed by market due to Fox and Tkachuk not being here)

In the end all of those teams had chances to build a contender, and didn't, due to a lack of patience and poor management.

Not because of pressure or the market leading to a well built team failing in the playoffs, none of the Canadian teams have just been able to build a team worthy of being a true contender.
