No laws are being broken. If a warp drive existed as theorized the ship wouldn't be moving at all, it would be contracting the space in front of it. Imagine space like a piece of paper, with conventional travel if you wanted to go from one end to the other you'd need to travel the entire length. But a warp drive would fold the piece of paper in half so the two ends meet, meaning the ship doesn't have to move
