They do with casual/non-AEW fans, but they're still getting pops and chants from the live audiences (see: the ladder match at Dynasty, last night). It also seems to vary by which city they're in.

you really need to have a big threat as a heel. This feels more like we're going to get two EVP's and a hanger on against the establishment of Tony Kahn.
That's pretty obviously Okada in this situation. I still think it was stupid to put the Continental Championship on him because it limits him from going after the true main even talents, but we'll see what happens.

Don't explicitly call it out as "AEW Originals" vs "Ex WWE" but have him continue to have fueds with some of the EX WWE guys that fans maybe aren't loving and having a really aggressive attitude towards them.

Maybe that's actually the way they go here (have YBs and Perry have heat with TK for signing all these ex-WWE wrestlers) but it seems a bit forced to be entwining Tony Kahn into it TBH and could have been done without him.
I would hope that's the direction they're going. The best heels are the ones are the ones who believe they have legitimate grievances that the audiences can somewhat relate with, but are total scumbags with how they deal with them (Chad Gable is a great example in WWE right now).
