You kidding me?
NHL:
67.6 Disallowed Goal - A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player
who bats or directs the puck with his hand into the net. A goal cannot
be scored by an attacking player who bats or directs the puck and it is
deflected into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official. When the
puck enters the net on a clear deflection off a glove, the goal shall be
allowed.
There are three parts.
" A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player
who bats or directs the puck with his hand into the net."
Is there really a leap to intent here when it says a player bats or directs?
"A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats or directs the puck and it is
deflected into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official."
Same as the first, except here the goal is still illegal if it touches something else before going in. The intent is still there.
"When the puck enters the net on a clear deflection off a glove, the goal shall be
allowed."
To me this is clearly for unintentional deflections. Again, not a far leap to say the player it deflected off did not intend to deflect it.
You seem to be trying really hard to say this is a black and white call and there was no interpretation by the officials. It's okay to admit that the official saw there was intent, by the downward motion, and waved the goal.
