It’s early in these series of course, but I wonder if there could be a shift back to teams targeting (and paying a high price for) established #1 goaltenders this offseason. Colorado and Toronto’s goaltending both look suspect and lots of people thought these teams should shore up their goaltending at the TDL. You could add Edmonton to the list if what I think (and hope) will happen to them in the first round. You could potentially have a list of Toronto, Colorado, Edmonton and New Jersey as teams with high expectations that fell flat at least in part due to those teams not paying the price to get better goaltending.
This would be a good development for Calgary going into this offseason since they are looking to get some value for Markstrom in a trade.
