I agree 100%. The biggest reason I could see Chase doing an ending like this is that it keeps a plethora of options open for a movie, if he and the cast should ever agree to do one down the road.

The sudden ending IS a major cop out though, now if a movie is made any darn thing in the world could have happened after the ending and Chase doesnt have to justify anything. He just has to start the movie with the closing scene from tonights episode and then flash 5 years later on the screen and he is good to go.
