I would much rather go with what is outright fact at this stage: the Flames have no game breaking skill. If we're talking Huberdeau? He produced points playing on an offensive-oriented 2nd line, and the team that had him traded him away/didn't extend him because they knew he wasn't a piece to win with. He has been here for two seasons now, under two different coaching staffs and has been nothing short of a complete disaster.
There's no weird set of circumstances that turn this junkheap of a roster into a top tier team.
Huska is a vanilla coach, and I don't think we can definitively say he's a good, bad, or mediocre head coach at the NHL level. He's had one season with a terrible roster.
I can't fathom what makes a Flames fan defend this roster at this stage. It's horrible, and posted back to back bad seasons.
