I don't think it was ever confirmed that the Devils offered their 2024 first round pick. For all we know, and with the way the market was this year, the Devils could have been offering their 2025 or 2026 first rounder.
Whatever was offered, it's setting unrealistic expectations to think that Markstrom will land a top 10 pick in any year; the last goalie to do that was Schneider and he was a young goalie with long term control. Markstrom will get you a first round pick in the 20 to 32 range plus some other assets worth less than that. If you expect anymore than that, you will be disappointed.
